 Mount Batur boasts an impressive crater which is 15km across and has an outer and an inner rim with a 700 m volcanic cone rising from the crater floor…….. and a crater lake, what more could you want?
The mountain biking here is anything you want it to be. It has the only flat ride on the island, if you want to keep to the floor of the crater, as well as one of the steepest and most technical descents, if you want to ride from the crater rim down to the east coast, a drop of 1300m in 12 km.
The surfaces are also very varied with 5 km of track across the most recent lava flow (1997), volcanic sand, red mud, forest trail and tarmac. The trail around the outer rim is world class both from a single track and scenic point of view and the trail down to the sea is a must for anybody who likes a challenge!
