Bali is an island where flat land is extremely rare and its mountain biking is characterised by steep ups and downs. Although there is an overall down-hill emphasis on the majority of our rides, every trip includes some steep uphill sections. The trails are on a diverse range of surfaces, from forest trails and compact red-mud, to volcanic sand, lava and dust. And there is as much singletrack as we can cram in.
We have several example packages with different kinds of riding. If you would like more information on our current schedule and prices please contact us here.
Dirty weekends confirmed to go !
– 29th & 30th of August: 2 rides, 1 night in East Bali –
We start above Besakih Temple on the edge of Gunung Agung. The trail starts on jeep track which soon turns to narrow singletrack that winds its way around the top of a large ravine. This afternoon’s ridge ride starts on a tiny tarmac track which clings to the ridge-top before turning into a challenging piece of singletrack, with some great trails following the ridgetop down towards the coast.
Ride Length: up to 45kms. Overall descent 1150m to 65m.
> Night in Candidasa. Hotel Alam Asmara, Deluxe Room. www.alamasmara.com
The next day we move from Candidasa to Pidpid. Our ride starts with a downhill blast on singletrack and then turns west and manages to steer a reasonably flat route around the side of Mt. Agung via a network of singletrack paths which weave their way through shady coconut and bamboo groves. Some great trails follow a ridge-top down towards a beautiful palm-fringed white sand beach. A plunge in the turquoise water is a beautiful reward.
Ride Length: 40kms. Overall descent from 800m to 0m.
> After ample beach time we drop you in Ubud / Sanur / Seminyak.

Intermediate and advanced riders. Technically and physically challenging. An average day consists of 3 to 5 hours in the saddle. The distances we cover vary from 35 to 50kms.
Kintamani, here I come !
– 2 rides, 2 nights –
This 2 day trip allows you to experience two completely different rides. Starting in Kintamani and riding from one tiny village to another you discover real Balinese village life and explore amazing rice paddy country, ending in Ubud. The next day you get to ride the best trails from the Batur crater. Enjoy the famous ‘Batur rim ride’ around the edge of the crater, followed by a ride across the 1927 lava flows, and – if you are up to it – a chance to attempt the lung-busting hill.
This trip is suitable for anybody with a bit of off-road experience and is slightly less technically and physically demanding than the ‘Slopes of Agung’ trip.
The Slopes of Mount Agung
– 2 rides, 2 nights –
This 2 day trip is based in the east of Bali around the highest volcano on the island – Mt Agung. It captures a whole range of different scenery from mountain farmland to coastal coconut groves and everything in between, and the riding is just as varied from ‘testy’ pieces of narrow singletrack to cobbled jeep tracks through rock quarries.
This trip in its entirety is slightly more technically and physically demanding than the Batur Crater rides but can be adapted to suit most abilities.
One Week East Bali Explorer
Cycle your way around this beautiful tropical island with 5 days of full-on mountain biking. The tour also includes one rest day although for the hyper-active amongst you there are options for more adventure on that day.
This trip captures all of the best rides in east Bali, including 2 rides in and around the Batur crater, a spectacular ride over a mountain pass between Mt Abang and Agung followed by a remote descent to the east coast and some great rides around the southern slopes of Mt Agung. The accommodation is based in 3 locations for minimum ‘faffage’!
With the advantage of a back-up truck, the trip can be tailored to suit anybody with some off-road experience. (Please read section on technical ability and fitness.).
